Teeing Off, Take Two

After a stormy start in June, the rescheduled 9th Annual Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare Golf Outing took place on Aug. 24 with 254 golfers hitting the greens at the beautiful Grand Geneva Resort & Spa in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.

Golfers not only brushed up on their golf game but also helped bring in a record breaking $239,000 in sponsorships to support many of our invaluable programs and services. The benefiting funds include:

  • Elmbrook Memorial Cardiac Care Fund
Supports the purchase of advanced cardiac technology and equipment, as well as programs for cardiac disease prevention and life-enhancing cardiac maintenance.
  • Foundation for St. Francis and Franklin the Dan Mattes Innovation and Technology Fund
In appreciation of Dan Mattes' years of service and unwavering commitment to the Wheaton's mission and ministry, this fund supports innovations in medical systems, therapies, drugs and medical devices, in order to enhance patient care and ensure that our hospitals remain at the forefront of cutting-edge advancements.
  • St. Joseph's Emergency Department
Provides the highest level of service to over 85,000 individuals a year, and support ensures that all who visit the Emergency Department will receive care with the best technology, service and comfort.
  • Technology Advancement
Technology in the areas of orthopedics and heart care are of utmost importance to Midwest Spine and Orthopedic Hospital and Wisconsin Heart Hospital. With new equipment coming out at a rapid pace, it's important to remain at the cutting-edge of treatments and procedures. Monies in this fund will be used to improve technology by purchasing new equipment, capital enhancements or operational expenses.
  • All Saints Cancer Center
In 2014, the All Saints Cancer Center treated nearly 700 newly diagnosed cancer patients – about two new people every day. Early detection, increased survival rates, and longer lives are clear victories but they also mean increased demand. An upcoming expansion and remodeling project will provide much needed space, amenities and comfort services to meet an ever-growing need.

Attendees at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare's Annual Golf OutingGolfers, who packed both the Brute and Highlands courses at the beautiful Grand Geneva Resort, participated in many of our fun on-course events including Beat the Nun competition and Bulls Eye, as well as our silent auction and Heads or Tails contest at dinner.

Following a great day of golf, guests were treated to a wonderful dinner and awards ceremony. Many Foundation friends attended the evening’s events, which featured a special presentation by John Oliverio, President and CEO of Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare.

Thanks to everyone for making this event a success. We look forward to seeing you again next June!
