Wheaton Franciscan – St. Joseph Campus has been recognized locally and nationally for providing exceptional and compassionate health care service that promotes the dignity and well being of the people we serve.

100 Hospitals with Great Women’s Health Programs

Becker's Hospital Review recognized St. Joseph Campus as one of only two Wisconsin hospitals to be included, and we are the only hospital in Southeast Wisconsin with this recognition, which is based on clinical excellence, quality care and the comprehensive scope of our women's health programs.

Commitment to the Community

  • In 2015, St. Joseph Campus received the Advocacy All-Star Award for the Wisconsin Hospital Association’s annual Advocacy Day. The award is presented each year to one hospital that has exemplified grassroots advocacy on key issues.
  • St. Joseph Campus was recognized by the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services for reaching gold, silver and bronze levels of achievement in conducting activities that promoted enrollment in state organ donor registries.
  • St. Joseph Campus was recognized with a 2015 Milwaukee Business Journal’s Central City Business Award in the community impact category, which features Milwaukee-area businesses and individuals who are committed to supporting growth and prosperity in a central city area. As a major employer in Milwaukee’s central city, St. Joseph Campus actively pursues and develops a diverse workforce. As a resident of the neighborhood, we're a committed participant in neighborhood revitalization efforts. We also work to improve the health and wellness of residents, including Safe Place for Newborns, Unity in the Community, diabetes education through partnership with local African American churches, and sponsorship of a summer Concerts in the Park music series.
  • On Feb. 24, 2014, Archbishop Jerome E. Listecki hosted his inaugural Lenten Lunch honoring recipients of the Treasures of the Church Award, which was established this year to recognize those individuals, organizations and religious orders who exemplify the true treasures of the church in their steadfast commitment and response to the poor in our midst. St. Joseph Campus was honored to be the Organization Recipient in 2014.

Get With The Guidelines® Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award

St. Joseph Campus has received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award. The award recognizes our commitment and success in implementing excellent care for stroke patients, according to evidence-based guidelines. To receive the award, our campus achieved 85 percent or higher adherence to all Get With The Guidelines-Stroke Quality Achievement indicators for two or more consecutive 12-month intervals and achieved 75 percent or higher compliance with six of 10 Get With The Guidelines-Stroke Quality Measures, which are reporting initiatives to measure quality of care. These measures include aggressive use of medications, such as tPA, antithrombotics, anticoagulation therapy, DVT prophylaxis, cholesterol reducing drugs and smoking cessation, all aimed at reducing death and disability and improving the lives of stroke patients.


  • We are fully accredited by the Joint Commission, an independent, not-for-profit organization that sets national health care standards and has been accrediting health care facilities since 1951.
  • We are an accredited Chest Pain Center with Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI). “With PCI” is a designation earned by facilities using PCI on-site 24/7 as the first choice for restoring blood flow and performing the minimum recommended number per year.
  • In 2015, our Vascular Lab received a three-year accreditation through Intersocietal Accreditation Commission, which means St. Joseph Campus was found to provide quality patient care, in compliance with national standards.
