Neuropsychology & Memory Loss Conditions We Treat

At Wheaton you'll find testing, diagnosis, care and treatment for the following neuropsychology and memory loss conditions:

  • Alzheimer's disease
  • Anxiety, depression and other emotional conditions
  • Attention deficit disorder (ADD)
  • Dementia
  • Developmental conditions, such as autism
  • Head injuries
  • Learning disabilities
  • Mild cognitive impairment
  • Neurological conditions, such as seizures and Parkinson's disease
  • Normal aging

Memory Loss & Dementia Tests

We understand this is a stressful time for you and your loved one. That's why your doctor will work closely with you to give you a comprehensive physical and neuropsychological evaluation that examines certain brain functions, such as speech, reflexes, coordination, memory and more. You and your doctor may also decide that a brain-imaging test, such as an MRI or CT scan, is necessary to provide the most accurate diagnosis.

These evaluations and tests will help your doctor determine the cause of your symptoms. In addition to memory and neuropsychological conditions, the cause of your symptoms could also be a medication reaction, dietary deficiency or mood-related condition.

Dementia, Memory Loss & Alzheimer's Treatments

Based on your evaluation and test results, we'll develop a personalized treatment plan designed to improve your daily function and quality of life. This care plan will include information not only for you but also for any family members and loved ones involved in your care.

Treatment plans may include strategies to prevent further progression of your condition, methods to treat the symptoms you have and ways to improve certain symptoms you may be experiencing. Other care and treatment recommendations may include:

  • Behavior management
  • Memory enhancement exercises
  • Access to behavioral health specialists
  • Support groups, including ones for caregivers
  • Clinical trials access
  • Caregiver education
  • Community resources access
