Green Bay Packers Foundation Funds Concussion Prevention Endowment

The Green Bay Packers Foundation has provided funding to help prevent concussions in youth sports in Racine. Thanks to a generous gift in support of the Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare - All Saints Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Endowment, youth athletes in Racine have already and will continue to receive much needed upgrades in safety equipment, concussion baseline testing and sports-safety education.

The Green Bay Packers Foundation has been giving back to Wisconsin’s communities since it was established in 1986 by Judge Robert J. Parins, then president of the Packers Corporation, “as a vehicle to assure continued contributions to charity.” The Foundation, an entity independent of Green Bay Packers, Inc., considers grant requests from charities possessing one or more of the following goals while raising the awareness of the Packers organization as a committed and contributing member of the various communities:

  • Perpetuates a community environment that promotes families and the competitive value of athletics;
  • Contributes to player and fan welfare;
  • Ensures the safety and education of children; and/or
  • Prevents cruelty to animals.

The All Saints Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Endowment was selected thanks to its timeliness in responding to current concerns regarding youth sports safety and concussions. And due to the successful integration of the endowment throughout orthopedic services, Parkside University and local youth sports leagues.

Established on June 20, 2012 – with help and support from the All Saints Orthopedic Group, the All Saints Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Endowment is designed to provide ongoing support for community needs related to orthopedics and sports medicine within the Racine and Kenosha Counties. The endowment has been successful in providing its first grant for a student at the University of Wisconsin - Parkside and in the purchase of much needed new helmets for the Racine Youth Sports Program.

A special thanks to the Green Bay Packers Foundation for partnering with All Saints in an effort to protect Racine’s young athletes.
