Ascension Wisconsin Contributed More Than $257 Million to Wisconsin Communities

Across Wisconsin, Ascension is committed to serving all people with special attention to those who are poor and vulnerable. Whether in Southeast Wisconsin, the Fox Valley or North-Central Wisconsin, our community benefit programs and activities address community needs by providing treatment or promoting health and healing in order to accomplish the following:

• Improve access to health services

• Advance medical or health knowledge

• Enhance population health

• Reduce the burden of government to improve health by covering some of the costs of government programs

From July 1, 2016, to June 30, 2017, Ascension Wisconsin’s benefit to the communities we serve totaled more than $257 million and included $38.5 million in financial assistance (formerly called charity care) for those patients who could not afford medical care. During that time, Ascension provided more than $1.8 billion in care of persons living in poverty and community benefit programs across the nation.
