Awards & Recognition

Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare’s hospitals, clinics, outpatient centers and physicians have been recognized on the local and national levels for our clinical excellence and commitment to providing superior and compassionate care to those we serve.


  • Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare has been designated a Gold Well Workplace by the Wellness Council of America.
  • Wheaton Franciscan - St. Joseph ranks No. 4 in a list of top hospitals in Wisconsin, and No. 3 in the Milwaukee metro area, according to the 2014-2015 edition of U.S. News and World Report Best Hospital guide. The hospital was also recognized in southeast Wisconsin for 10 high-performing adult specialties. The rankings are based on data collected from nearly 5,000 hospitals regarding 16 specialties and are aimed toward helping individuals who require a high level of care.
  • Wheaton Franciscan - St. Joseph Campus received the 2015 Advocacy All-Star Award for at the Wisconsin Hospital Association’s annual Advocacy Day. The award is presented each year to one hospital that has exemplified grassroots advocacy on key issues.
  • Wheaton Franciscan – St. Joseph Campus received the “Treasure of the Church” award from the Archdiocese of Milwaukee for its steadfast commitment and response to the poor.
  • Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints was recently presented with the 2015 Outstanding Achievement Award by the Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons (ACS). All Saints also achieved Commendation status on their recent three-year accreditation survey. 
  • Wheaton Franciscan – St. Joseph Campus received a 2015 Milwaukee Business Journal Central City Business Award in the community impact category for its commitment to supporting growth and prosperity in a central city area.
  • Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare - All Saints has recently received the IBCLA Care Award from the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners® (IBLCE®) and the International Lactation Consultant Association® (ILCA®) for meeting the requirements of this global recognition program.
  • Wheaton Franciscan – St. Joseph Campus is again included on the list of “100 Hospitals with Great Women’s Health Programs.”
  • The Center Pregnancy program at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare - All Saints has been named an “Approved Site” by the Centering Healthcare Institute. 
  • Coreen Dicus-Johnson, President of Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare-St. Francis and Franklin and Midwest Orthopedic Specialty Hospital, has been named a Woman of Influence by The Business Journal of Milwaukee.
  • Ernest Colburn, RN, Lead Patient Care Supervisor at Wheaton Franciscan – St. Joseph Campus, was recently named a Corporate Trailblazer Honoree at The Milwaukee Times Annual Black Excellence Awards. Earnest has also been recognized as a YMCA Adult Black Achiever.
  • Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare received support from Susan G. Komen Southeast Wisconsin® to provide life-saving breast health programs to our community. The Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – Foundation for St. Francis and Franklin received $67,591 to support ongoing breast health initiatives through its Su Salud program. The Wheaton Franciscan – St. Joseph Foundation received $66,310 for the African American Breast Health Initiative at Wheaton Franciscan – St. Joseph.
  • For the third year in a row, Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare– All Saints has been recognized by The Joint Commission as a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures in the areas of heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, and surgical care. All Saints is one of only a few hospitals in Wisconsin to receive this award for three consecutive years.
  • Wheaton Franciscan - Elmbrook Memorial and St. Joseph Campuses were recognized by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for reaching gold, silver, and bronze levels of achievement in conducting activities that promoted enrollment in state organ donor registries.

Excellence in Stroke Care Awards

  • Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare-All Saints is a recipient of the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get with the Guidelines Stroke Silver Award. This award is presented to hospitals that maintain best-practice guidelines for the treatment of stroke patients for 12 consecutive months at compliance of at least 85%.
  • Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare - All Saints has received the Get With The Guidelines®–Heart Failure Silver-Plus Quality Achievement Award from the American Heart Association/American College.
  • Wheaton Franciscan – St. Joseph Campus achieved the Stroke Gold Plus Award from the American Heart/American Stroke Association’s Get With the Guidelines program for the second time. St. Joseph has previously earned the Gold, Silver, and Bronze Awards.
  • Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare - St. Francis achieved the fastest door to imaging time for the third quarter of 2014 among all 28 Wisconsin hospitals participating in the Wisconsin Coverdell Stroke Program. The Wisconsin Coverdell Stroke Program measures and tracks the quality of care for acute stroke patients and works to increase public awareness of stroke treatment and prevention.

Press Ganey Awards

  • Midwest Orthopedic Specialty Hospital (MOSH) was named the 2014 Press Ganey Beacon of Excellence and a two-time Guardian of Excellence Award winner. The Beacon of Excellence Award for Clinical Quality was given to only three health care facilities in the nation, and MOSH is the only hospital of its size to win this prestigious award. The Guardian of Excellence Awards recognize top-performing facilities that consistently achieved at or above the 95th percentile of performance. MOSH received two of these awards in the Patient Experience and Clinical Quality categories.
  • Wheaton Franciscan Medical Group – Metro Physicians also received a 2014 Guardian of Excellence Award winner for Patient Experience.
