Wheaton Franciscan-The Wisconsin Heart Hospital Campus
There is a place where revolutionary heart care is more than a vision. It’s a way of life. Where you’ll find the region’s top physicians and nurses working in an innovative environment designed from the ground up around our patients. Where treatment times are measured in minutes, not hours, and service exceeds expectations.
The Wisconsin Heart Hospital Campus is a 60-bed, specialty care cardiovascular hospital that was created with the patient in mind. Our philosophy of care is achieved through a unique collaboration between physicians, nurses, and administrators that allows us to deliver what we believe to be the new standard in heart care.
This model of care has earned high ratings from our patients: The Wisconsin Heart Hospital’s Inpatient and Emergency Departments have been awarded Press Ganey’s 2011 Summit Award™ for patient satisfaction, an honor also received in 2010.
Facility design
The unique design of our hospital makes a big impact on how we deliver care. Cardiovascular patients in the Emergency Department have immediate access to catheterization rooms just a few steps away. There is little delay from the time the ambulance arrives until artery-opening treatments are performed, which results in a dramatically shortened treatment time and reducing a patient's short and long-term complications. This time saving is critical because the sooner the treatment, the less damage to the heart muscle.
Patient room design
Unlike other hospital environments that require patients to be moved to different beds and units as their progress changes, our patients and their families are located in one room for their entire stay. Our acuity-adaptable model means our patient rooms “adapt” to the level of care required, meaning we move round the patient - not the other way around.
In essence, the hospital moves around the patient and the family. Room amenities allow patients to involve their families in supportive care and to interact with our medical staff.
