State-of-the-Art Aquatic Therapy Pool Opens in Franklin

A new, state-of-the-art aquatic therapy pool is now available in Franklin, Wisconsin.A brand new, state-of-the-art aquatic therapy pool is open and now available to patients in Franklin.

“We are excited to be able to use the therapy pool with a wide range of individuals; especially orthopedic patients, recovering athletes and patients dealing with chronic pain,” says Scott Krueger, Rehabilitation Services Manager.

The therapy pool, located at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare Rehabilitation Services - Franklin, is the only one like it in the area and is equipped with an underwater treadmill and variable resistance jets. Underwater cameras and a television screen allow the patient and therapist to monitor gait patterns.

Benefits of Aquatic Therapy

Some of the benefits of aquatic therapy include:

  • Faster recovery from surgery or injury
  • Earlier ability to bear weight
  • Facilitated range of motion
  • Improved cardiovascular stamina
  • Lessening of symptoms associated with some chronic conditions

Therapy pools can help patients start their recovery sooner because of the water’s buoyancy and its low impact environment. Water also causes compression, which can help with swelling and helps to hold patients up when walking.

“The therapy pool is not for everyone but for those patients where it makes sense, they’ll see improvement in their balance, range of motion, healing, and strengthening of injured tissues,” explains Krueger.

Patients interested in aquatic pool therapy in Franklin should consult with their doctor.
