Services and Support for a Successful Breastfeeding Relationship

During National Breastfeeding Month in August, our birthing experts remind women and couples who are expecting, or who have a new infant, that breastmilk is the perfect food for your baby. It contains just the right amount of nutrients. Additionally, it can be a wonderful way for you and your child to bond.

Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare birth centers support and encourage breastfeeding and offer a variety of services for this special experience.

Baby Friendly Hospital

Mothers who give birth at Baby Friendly Hospitals, like Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare - St. Francis and Wheaton Franciscan - Elmbrook Memorial Campus, are more likely to start and keep breastfeeding their babies exclusively for up to a year.

This designation is awarded to hospitals after undergoing an extensive accreditation process that meets the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding.

Lactation Consultants

Internationally board certified lactation consultants are available to you before, during and after your baby is born. They share techniques and answer your questions, making every effort to ensure that your breastfeeding experience is successful.

Breastfeeding Centers

Breastfeeding Centers are conveniently located within Wheaton hospitals, offering a wide range of resources for breastfeeding mothers, their infants and families.

Classes & Support

At Wheaton, you'll benefit from breastfeeding classes and support groups, including Breastfeeding Basics and Breastfeeding with Confidence classes. Find a breastfeeding class near you.

Donor Milk Depot

As a donor milk depot, Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare - All Saints is the first and only collection point for donations from women who are approved donors. Donations help feed premature or sick babies whose mothers can't yet produce enough milk.

To make a donation, please bring the milk to the Center for Women and Infants at All Saints. From there it will get sent to a milk bank for pasteurization and processing.

For more information about the donor milk depot, please call the All Saints Lactation Office at 262-687-3275.
