Heart Healthy Game Day Appetizer Favorites

Hosting a Packers party soon? We've taken two of the all-time favorite appetizer recipes and slimmed them down by eliminating the cheese while providing more health benefits. And we didn’t lose any of the yummy taste!

Heart Healthy Taco Dip

1 package (8 oz) 1/3 less fat or no fat Neufchatel cheese (or cream cheese)

1 cup (8 oz) light sour cream

1 package taco seasoning mix

1 cup diced yellow and/or orange and/or peppers

1/3 diced green onions

1 can black beans (8 oz), drained and rinsed

In a large bowl, beat the cheese, sour cream, and taco seasoning until blended. Spread onto a 12-in. round serving platter. Top with peppers, onions, and black beans. Serve with tortilla chips. 

Yield: 10-12 servings

Healthier Crockpot Turkey Meatballs

2 jars (12 oz each) Heinz Chili Sauce

1 jar (32 oz) low sugar or sugar free grape jelly

1 bag (approx. 80) prepared frozen turkey meatballs (or make your own)

Mix chili sauce and grape jelly in a crockpot. Heat until mixture is smooth. Add frozen meatballs and cook until thawed. Simmer for three hours.

Yield: 10-12 servings
