Third Party Events Support Elmbrook Memorial and St. Joseph in a Big Way
Third party events are a wonderful way for our volunteers and community supporters to get involved around a cause that is of interest to them, and the Wheaton Franciscan - Elmbrook Memorial and St. Joseph Foundations are extremely grateful to have several donors coordinating events on our behalf.
6th Annual Tyler Lee Car Show
Julie and Troy Magerowski are two of our donors who tirelessly raise funds for the St. Joseph Antepartum and Neonatal Intensive Care Funds.
The 6th Annual Tyler Lee Car Show was held Labor Day weekend, Aug. 30, 2014, at Classic Lanes in Oak Creek. In addition to a car show, this family-focused event was complete with a bounce house, 50/50 raffle, face painting, Klements Racing Sausages, food and prizes! Music by Feelin’ the Beat kept the crowd rockin'! Even the rain couldn't keep people from having fun and raising money for the St. Joseph Antepartum Fund.
Julie and Troy began their fundraising efforts when their twin nephews, Tyler and Jacob, were born prematurely at St. Joseph in 2008. The infants suffered from Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome, where twins who share a placenta also share blood, often leading to birth defects or even death for one or both babies. Unfortunately, Tyler succumbed to complications a few weeks after birth. His brother, Jacob, survived and is a healthy and happy six year old.
Since they began their fundraising efforts six years ago, the Magerowski family and friends have raised more than $100,000 for St. Joseph. We sincerely appreciate everything they have done and continue to do.
After Work Event to Support Inpatient Rehabilitation Center
Elmbrook Memorial and St. Joseph Inpatient Rehabilitation Center associates are dedicated to assisting patients in need. Championed by Social Worker Beth Hohl, the staff organized this annual fundraiser to support the Center's Patient Assistance Fund.
Held during National Rehabilitation Awareness Week, the after work event took place on Sept. 25 at Jimmy’s Island Grill and Iguana Bar in Wauwatosa. More than 50 people attended the event, raising over $9,000 from sponsorship, raffle and silent auction items.
This event gets bigger and better every year – so stay tuned for next year’s event and join us in support of the Center!
Get Your Groove on with Zumba® Spooktacular
The 4th Annual Zumba® Fitness Spooktacular was held Oct.10 at Hales Corners Lutheran Church. The proceeds of this groovy event benefit the St. Joseph Prescription Assistance Fund. This fund provides financial support for medication when there are no other options for patients who cannot afford it.
The 2014 Spooktacular was chaired by Kim Schrank, Director of Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare Outpatient Pharmacy, and Zumba Instructor Dina Sharafinski, and was the biggest one yet!
Attendance topped 190 dancers, many of whom were in costume, Zumba’d for 90 minutes with 19 Zumba® instructors. Each instructor brought their own style and flair – along with funky music – to make this event spooktacular!
The event would not have been complete without awesome raffle prizes such as a Halloween candy, Cooper’s Hawk, Bath & Body Works, movie night baskets to name a few. The event raised more than $6,500, which will go a long way in helping low-income patients receive life-saving medication.
