All Saints Safe Kids Program

Did you know that accidental injury is the leading cause of death among children ages 1-14? Yet most of these accidents are preventable!

Something is being done to help. In January 2007, Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints became the lead Racine and Kenosha County agency for the Safe Kids USA® Program.

What is Safe Kids?

The Safe Kids Coalition of Kenosha and Racine Counties focuses on ways to prevent injuries to children by educating the community, bringing awareness to injury risks and trends, and advocating for safer laws and policies to protect children and their families.

We address topics such as:

  • Motor vehicle safety
  • Pedestrian safety
  • Wearing bicycle helmets
  • Fire safety
  • Risk of poisoning
  • Product recalls
  • Safe sleeping practices
  • Water safety

This education and awareness is accomplished by attending and hosting community events, providing free car seat inspections, conducting safety workshops and activities, networking with community partners, and distributing safety information.

All of our services are free and available to residents and agencies of Kenosha and Racine Counties.

Who are our members?

Safe Kids has members from Kenosha, Racine and other counties in Wisconsin. We are health care workers, educators, firefighters, police officers, health department staff, investigators and human service workers. We would love to add you to this list!

Should I become a member?

There are many opportunities as a member of Safe Kids and there are different levels of membership. As a member you can choose to attend monthly meetings (the second Thursday of every month at All Saints from 9 – 10:30 am), become a car seat technician, assist with community education and events, provide financial support, host an event at your business or agency, or provide us with expert information.

What are the benefits of membership?

Other than the satisfaction of making our community safer for our children, there are the benefits of receiving current and accurate safety information, networking with other businesses/agencies in your area, the chance to get your business/agency’s name out in the community, affiliation with a worldwide organization, and lots of fun.

How did Safe Kids begin?

The National Safe Kids movement began in 1987 as a partnership between the National Children’s Hospital and Johnson & Johnson. Since then the movement has grown to include 17 member countries and over 400 coalitions. In 2004, we changed our name to Safe Kids Worldwide.

Our local Kenosha and Racine County coalition was established in 2001 and in January of 2007, Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints became our lead agency.

How can I get involved or get safety information?
