Important Questions to Ask

(Source: National Institutes of Health)

We believe it is essential for every patient to be fully informed before participating in a clinical trial.

The Office of Human Research Protections, a division of the National Institute of Health, strongly recommends that you ask your physician or research coordinator the following list of questions before you agree to participate in a research study.

  1. What is the purpose of this research study?

  2. What will be expected of me as a participant?

  3. How will I benefit from participation in this study?

  4. What happens with my personal health information?

  5. Will the research cost me anything?

  6. How long will the study last?

  7. Can I withdraw from the study, without affecting my healthcare?
