Genetic variations in Toll-like receptors and susceptibility to chronic lung disease (CLD) in very low birth weight infant.
This is a prospective case control study to determine if certain babies weighing less than 1500 grams at birth are at an increased risk of developing a lung condition called chronic lung disease (CLD). The main goal of the study is to determine if babies with certain genes are more likely to develop CLD.
Detection of Pepsin in Tracheal Secretions as a Marker of Aspiration in Mechanically Ventilated Neonates.
This is a cross-sectional prospective pilot trial to determine if the presence of pepsin in the tracheal secretions of ventilated neonates < 32 weeks gestation increases their chances of developing pneumonia and/or chronic lung disease.
Registry for Neonatal Encephalopathy
Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare-St Joseph is the only level III NICU in the state of Wisconsin participating in this National registry.
