Memory Disorders

Misplaced car keys . . . lost glasses . . . directions you can't remember - these occasional lapses of memory can happen to anyone. But consistent forgetfulness in any adult is not normal, and contrary to what many think, it is not an inevitable part of aging.

Richard London, MD, and Lakshman Dinavahi, MD, are board-certified Geriatricians who lead our Memory Diagnostic Services in Milwaukee and Wauwatosa. These programs are recognized by the Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Institute and are designed to provide comprehensive support to individuals with mild to severe memory loss, as well as the friends and family members who are part of their lives. Our staff of compassionate experts is available to help with opportunities to prevent or slow memory loss, or cope with advanced memory loss.

Services

Our Memory Diagnostic Services are coordinated with your primary care physician and are provided by an interdisciplinary team which includes physicians, psychologists, registered nurses (RNs), and social workers.

We offer:

  • Access to social work and behavioral health specialists
  • Alzheimer's Association Caregiver Support Group
  • Behavior management recommendations
  • Caregiver education and follow-up
  • Complete evaluation of patient and family needs, with recommendations for prevention, improvement or treatment
  • Evaluation of memory problems or concerns about dementia
  • Expert treatment and management of dementia
  • Memory enhancement exercises and programs
  • Recognition of reversible memory changes due to medication side effects, dietary deficiencies, or identification and linkage with community resources

We Can Help
Patients may be referred by their primary care physician or self refer for Memory Diagnostic Services. We welcome inquiries on behalf of individuals interested in maintaining brain health, people who want to slow the progression of memory loss and anyone who may be experiencing forgetfulness or loss of cognitive function. Memory consultations can be arranged by your primary care physician, the patient, or a caregiver who may call directly on behalf of a patient. The Memory Diagnostic Services also provide support for family members, including them in the enhancement process, or assessing their needs and suggesting resources to enable them in their care of the patient.

Our program accepts Medicare, Medicaid, self-payment, private insurance, and some HMOs (with pre-authorization).
