Living with Lymphedema

Chronic swelling of the arm, hand or leg, known as lymphedema, is a complication that can occur following surgery or cancer treatment. It can inhibit movement, make clothes uncomfortable and cause more anxiety for people who are dealing with a disease.

Our Services

Specially trained physical and occupational therapists develop an individualized care plan that will help reduce volume and improve texture of the area involved, increase range of motion and reduce swelling. Our Lymphedema Treatment Program offers Combined Decongestive Therapy, a highly effective approach with proven results.

Beyond the treatment component of the program, therapists offer techniques and tips so that patients can successfully manage this condition on their own. Follow-up visits help therapists monitor patient progress and self-care techniques.

Lymphedema Treatment is available at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare - Elmbrook and All Saints; Elmbrook Medical Arts Center, St. Francis Medical Arts Pavilion, and Wheaton Franciscan - St. Joseph Campus. Click here for more information on these locations.
