Pharmacy Practice Residency Program

Residency Mission:
The pharmacy practice residency program is designed to develop self-directed practitioners who are prepared to assume an advanced practice in a hospital environment. The resident will acquire or enhance pharmaceutical care, leadership, and administrative skills.

Residents completing the program will be competent, confident, and compassionate practitioners. They will function as effective members of the healthcare team with the ultimate goal of providing optimal pharmaceutical care to patients. These pharmacists will possess the knowledge and experience required to be proficient in appropriate medication use. They will develop and practice effective written and verbal communication skills and become valuable educators of healthcare professionals, patients, students, and the community. Residency graduates will demonstrate time management and independent thinking skills that will make them leaders within their practice settings and within the profession.

St. Joseph Campus Pharmacy Department:
The Department of Pharmacy is open 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. Decentralized services are provided through unit-based pharmacy teams and the main pharmacy. Clinical and distributive serves are provided by over 25 full time unit-based pharmacists.
