A New Era in Cancer Treatment

Angie Morales was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004. Despite numerous rounds of chemo and radiation therapy, she experienced two reoccurrences over the next three years. In May of 2007, her doctors recommended a new treatment known as shaped beam radiosurgery utilizing the Trilogy® system at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare–All Saints.

Shaped beam radiosurgery delivers concentrated doses of  radiation to tumors with submillimeter accuracy, protecting surrounding healthy tissue. For patients this means no incisions, no scarring, and no pain.

“After talking with Dr. Taylor, I felt very confident about the technology and decided to go for the process.” says Angie. “After about four treatments, I looked at the machine as a friend.”

Because Trilogy delivers radiation doses at levels at least 60% higher than conventional methods, time spent in treatment and the number of treatments needed is dramatically reduced.

“I’m so grateful All Saints made this technology available to me,” says Angie. “I didn’t have to leave town. And the staff is just wonderful there. They made me feel comfortable.”

Shaped beam radiosurgery is also available to patients at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare–St. Joseph through the Novalis® system.
