During his routine morning workout at a Milwaukee health club, Don West collapsed to the floor. Fast-thinking bystanders immediately began CPR, administered the club’s defibrillator, and called 911. Paramedics rushed Don to The Wisconsin Heart Hospital. He was taken immediately to the catheterization lab for evaluation, then to the operating room.
“Quick and appropriate action most likely saved Mr. West’s life,” says cardiovascular surgeon Scott Schlidt, MD, who performed Don’s quadruple bypass surgery.
“He was very fortunate to have received a seamless link to care at this critical time.”
Beyond its world-class physicians, The Wisconsin Heart Hospital’s design has a great deal to do with the successful outcomes for its patients. The hospital’s full-service Emergency Department adjacent to its cardiac catheterization labs maximizes treatment flow and staff efficiency.
Patients have voiced their approval, awarding the hospital with five national patient’s choice awards for quality and service and the top prize in the nation for its inpatient cardiology/ telemetry services two years in a row.
