New Minimally Invasive Treatment for Breast Fibroadenomas

Reduced Pain, Little to No Scarring

Fibroadenomas are solid, firm, benign breast lumps that are most commonly found in women in their 20s and 30s. Despite being non-cancerous, fibroadenomas can cause physical deformity if they grow large, and may produce pain or emotional distress in women who have them.

The Comprehensive Breast Center team at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare - Franklin now offers minimally invasive technology for the treatment of breast fibroadenomas. Called IceSense®, this in-office procedure offers the following benefits:

  • Reduced pain and discomfort
  • Reduced anxiety
  • No stitches
  • Fast recovery time
  • Little to no scarring or permanent disfigurement

IceSense uses a thin metal probe that's cooled by liquid nitrogen to extremely low temperatures, which freezes and kills the tumor without harming surrounding tissues and without any significant scarring. The procedure takes 10-15 minutes and patients may immediately resume normal activities. The treated tissue is simply absorbed by the body over time.

If you have a breast lump that has been biopsied and proven to be non-cancerous and are interested in cryoablation treatment, call 414-256-1920 to request an appointment with Dr. Jodi Brehm.
