Milwaukee, WI - January 2010– All Wheaton Franciscan Cancer Care programs in Southeast Wisconsin have been granted Three-Year Full Accreditation from the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers. Programs at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare All Saints, Elmbrook Memorial, St. Joseph, and St. Francis also received Three-Year Accreditation with Commendation from the American College of Surgeons – Commission on Cancer.
Accreditation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) is given only to those centers that have voluntarily committed to provide the highest level of quality breast care and demonstrate proficiency according to rigorous NAPBC standards in the areas of: center leadership, clinical management, research, community outreach, professional education, and quality improvement.
The Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons grants its Three-Year Accreditation with Commendation to programs demonstrating compliance with standards in the areas of cancer committee leadership, cancer data management, clinical services, research, community outreach and quality improvement.
These designations mean Wheaton cancer patients know they have access to comprehensive state-of-the-art care, the best treatment options, and continuously updated cancer-related education and support.
