In an emergency, you need skilled care that you can count on.  At Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare - Elmbrook Memorial, we bring the highest standards of emergency care to our community. Minimal Wait Time, Serving Patients 24-7
Eighty-five percent of our patients are treated within five minutes of arrival. Our unique registration process, triaging system, state-of-the-art patient tracking, immediate access to support services and a high degree of teamwork result in little or no wait time for initiation of care. We offer emergency care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Our advanced emergency services include:

  • Early intervention for heart attacks and strokes
  • Evaluation and management of acute abdominal pain
  • Treatment for infections including: pneumonia, kidney, skin, blood
  • Management of trauma conditions: falls, motor vehicle accidents, fractures, sprains

Board Certified Emergency Physicians
All Elmbrook emergency physicians are board-certified in cardiac, trauma, medical and pediatrics emergency medicine.  Nurses are advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certified.

Seeking Emergency Care
If any of the following life-threatening conditions are present, call 911 immediately:

  • Chest pain lasting two minutes or more
  • Uncontrolled bleeding
  • Difficulty breathing, shortness of breath

If the situation is not life-threatening, but still requires emergency medical treatment, you may choose to transport the patient to the hospital yourself. Some examples of emergency situations may be:

  • Change in mental status (confusion, incoherence, listlessness)
  • Coughing or vomiting blood
  • Severe or persistent vomiting or diarrhea
  • Sudden or severe pain
  • Sudden dizziness, weakness or change in vision

To assist in the treatment of your or a loved one, it is helpful to bring all current medicines or a list of current medications, prescribed dosages and time of dosage.
