Financial Aid

Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare-All Saints, School of Radiologic Technology does not offer financial aid.  The program is approved for VA benefits.  Scholarships will be accepted.

Curriculum Presentation

           The courses are structured according to the Curriculum Guide for Programs in Radiologic Technology as established by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists.  Each course is defined with a description and a specific outline.  The curriculum is divided into a didactic and clinical portion.  The student must pass each section with a “C” (80%) or better before they are allowed to graduate from the school.

Clinical Education

Upon enrolling in the School of Radiologic Technology, the students are assigned clinical rotations in the department of radiology under the direct supervision of a staff or supervisory technologist. Students are evaluated in all areas of their clinical practice.

The student must be able to prove clinical competency by successfully completing the clinical practice phase of the school.  The clinical practice phase provides an environment for supervised competency based clinical education.  Approximately 2200 hours of clinical rotations are assigned to the student to satisfy his/her clinical education requirements.

During the second year of clinical practice, the student will rotate through the specialized areas of cardiology, interventional radiology, computerized tomography, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, mammography and magnetic resonance imaging.  Students are assigned in these specialized areas for observational purposes, but are allowed to participate under the direct supervision of the staff technologists according to their ability and initiative levels.

Academic/Clinical Requirements

For successful completion of the two-year (24 consecutive months) School of Radiologic Technology, the student must maintain a final grade of "C" (80%) or better in all pre-requisite academic courses, or they will be dismissed from the program. All courses that are not deemed as pre-requisites must also receive a “C” or better in order to avoid probation. Should the student fail to meet the minimum grade requirements, they will be placed on academic probation and the course must be made up on the student's own time.  Any subsequent grades below a “C” while on academic probation will result in immediate termination.  Two final course grades below a “C” in a single semester will result in immediate termination from the program.  Student radiographers must also maintain acceptable grades in the clinical aspect of the program.

Students are required to achieve an 85% on all clinical competencies, and must achieve a clinical grade of “C” (80%) or better.  Failure to do so will require the student to repeat the semester clinical hours in order to fulfil the requirements for graduation.  If, at any time during the program, the student is put on clinical probation, the student will have thirty (30) days to remedy the infraction; however the final semester grade will be reduced by one (1) letter grade. An “Incomplete” does not constitute a passing grade and the student will not be able to successfully graduate from the School of Radiologic Technology.

The student may not be allowed to graduate if the student fails to adhere to the rules and regulations of the hospital or school as stated in the Student Handbook.  In addition, if at any time the student's conduct is unsatisfactory or if he/she fails to manifest those qualities judge to be essential in the practice of Radiologic technology, the student will be unable to graduate from the school.

Grading System

The grading system for each course varies with the instructor, but the student is given a written format for assessment procedures at the beginning of each course.  The final course letter grade will follow the stated grading scale:

A= 93% - 100%                 A = 3.34- 4.0

B = 86% - 92%                  B =2.67- 3.33

C = 80% - 85%                  C =2.0-2.66

Graduation Requirements

              Upon completion of the program, the graduate is awarded a certificate which qualifies him/her to complete the computer-based examination of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.  The title of Registered Technologist-Radiography [(R.T. (R)] is bestowed upon those who pass this examination. In order for the student to graduate from the program, he/she must:

  • Complete all academic courses with a “C” (80%) or better.

  • Complete all clinical competencies with an 85% or better.

  • Fulfill all financial obligations to the School of Radiologic Technology.
