About the Facility
Located at the Wheaton Franciscan Medical Group Atrium Medical Offices on the Spring Street Campus in Racine, the Wheaton Franciscan Center for Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery uses the latest technology and methods for restoring and revitalizing both body and spirit. Dr. Sweet joined Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints in 1995 and together with his expert, compassionate staff, offers the most comprehensive plastic and reconstructive surgery care in the area.
Deciding on Plastic Surgery
Choosing plastic or reconstructive surgery is a highly personal decision and should be considered carefully. The ideal candidate for plastic surgery is someone who has realistic expectations of improvement, not perfection. Plastic surgery can enhance your appearance, giving a renewed feeling of self-confidence, but it cannot change the way others feel or act toward you. Dr. Sweet and his staff will work with you to make sure you understand each particular procedure and the possible outcomes before the surgery takes place.
Risk Factors
As with any surgery, there are risks you should understand. Many of the procedures involve anesthesia. Depending on the procedure and the patient, the doctor will administer either a local anesthetic to numb a particular area or a general anesthetic so the patient sleeps through the entire surgery. Operations are performed on an outpatient or inpatient basis as required. Recovery period can be quick or lengthy, again depending on the procedure and the patient. Patients of Dr. Sweet benefit from his office being located at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints should additional medical care be required.
Costs of Procedures
Costs of plastic or reconstructive surgery vary widely depending on the operation. Most insurance companies do not cover surgery for cosmetic purposes. However, reconstructive surgery, or procedures performed to improve function, may be covered by insurance. Be sure to check with your insurance company before surgery to determine your status.

Laser and Intense Pulsed Light Services
The Center for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery offers additional special features to enhance a person’s appearance and self-image.
Photofacials
Photofacials are an effective way to rejuvenate skin without the recovery time for more aggressive treatments. Intense pulsed light is used to clear sun damage, sun spots, rosacea, broken vessels and reduce pore size, resulting in a more even skin tone. Treatments are safe, comfortable and fast.
Leg Vein Removal
This service offers non-surgical clearance of spider veins in a more comfortable way than previous treatments on the market. The laser pulses cause unsightly vessels to fade from view in a few treatments or less.
Permanent Hair Reduction
This service offers safe, effective hair removal without the pain associated with lasers or electrolysis. Intense pulsed light is used to disable the cells responsible for growing new hair.
Treatment of Vascular and Pigmented Lesions
Intense pulsed light services is also beneficial in treating cherry angiomas, solar lentigos, telangiectasia and port wine stains.
