Choose the Local Leader in Joint Replacement Surgery
When cartilage in a joint becomes damaged by disease or injury, the tissues around the joint become inflamed, causing pain and a breakdown of healthy tissue. Over time, the tissue and cartilage may break down to such a point that a joint replacement should be considered. By replacing a diseased joint with an artificial joint, replacement surgery can dramatically relieve pain and help you return to enjoying normal, everyday activities.
At Elmbrook Memorial, our orthopedic surgeons are leaders in offering the latest options available for joint replacement surgery. In fact, Elmbrook Memorial consistently receives a 5 Star rating (the highest possible) from HealthGrades ® for both Total Hip Replacement and Total Knee Replacement surgeries.
The majority of our joint replacement procedures are performed minimally invasively. Using tiny incisions and cutting edge technology, our orthopedic surgeons can replace a joint with vastly shortened surgery times and less muscle involvement. That - along with improved longevity of the replacement joint - means shorter hospital stays, faster recoveries, improved range of motion and new joints that can be customized to your size, gender and activity level.

Joint Effort camp prepares you for recovery and rehabilitation
The best start to a recovery program is preparing for the surgery in advance. Your physician may recommend some strengthening exercises prior to your surgery date. If you are having your joint replacement surgery performed at a Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare facility, our free Joint Effort camp supports you before, during and after through educational materials, one-on-one counseling and support.
Joint Effort offers all joint replacement patients the option to attend regular Joint Effort classes, take part in regular Joint Effort activities during your hospital stay, ensure that all follow-up visits and therapy appointments are scheduled and participate in various education activities to have the best outcome through your procedure and recovery.
Joint Effort will familiarize you with our orthopedic unit, introduce your care team (nurses, discharge specialists, therapists and more), show where surgery and recovery will take place, and help clarify expectations from pre-procedure through recovery. More knowledge, less anxiety and increased confidence for both the patient and family will help to ensure a positive experience for all.
If you are a candidate for joint replacement surgery and are interested in attending Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare Joint Effort camps, please talk with your orthopedic surgeon.
