Latest treatments and technologies for sinus relief
Most sinus-related diseases can be treated with medicines. If surgery is required, we are leaders in innovative and minimally invasive procedures, including:.
  • Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS)
    • FESS is a minimally invasive technique performed under the magnification of a small telescopic endoscope to remove diseased tissue and open the sinuses to allow them to drain more naturally. New techniques employed in FESS make this procedure much less invasive than it was even five years ago. Nasal packing is rarely used and most patients are able to return to work or school in 48 hours.
  • Computer Guided Surgery
    • The use of special surgical navigation/computer guided technology can decrease complications and improve results. Three-dimensional images of a patient’s sinuses are uploaded to a computerized navigation system. Surgeons are able to track their progress to the millimeter during surgery.
  • Balloon Sinuplasty
    • Balloon sinuplasty is a breakthrough technology in sinus care. Doctors thread a guide wire equipped with a tiny balloon into the nostrils and up to the blockage. The balloon is then inflated about a quarter of an inch — just enough to stretch and open the passageway. The balloon is then deflated and withdrawn. Unlike traditional sinus surgery, sinuplasty is minimally invasive. After sinuplasty, sinus openings become significantly wider and in most cases, they stay that way.
  • Coblation Procedure
    • Tonsil removal and nasal obstruction can be treated with coblation (cold ablation) technology. Surgery using coblation technology creates virtually no heat which equals decreased pain and scarring. Nasal packing is no longer routinely used.
  • Sinus Nebulization Therapy
    • A nebulizer turns liquid medicine into a mist. Through sinus nebulization, medications can be delivered directly to the surface of the nose and sinuses.
