The diagnostic radiology resident workday starts at 7:30 am and ends around 5 pm. We begin each morning with an hour-long senior resident led teaching session, typically tailored towards board review or call preparation. The faculty driven didactic lecture is held over the noon hour with catered lunch provided. Our residents are a tight knit group who pride themselves on creating a collegial work environment. We believe in a culture of teamwork, camaraderie and support.
Residents have long followed the proven adage of "work hard and play hard." There are numerous social opportunities including organized happy hours in various historic Milwaukee locations and athletic activities. We recently implemented year-round competitive cup-type events pitting the different graduate classes against each other. The residents love to dabble in all types of sports, even those of the fantasy variety. We also hold an annual barbeque to welcome the new incoming class.
The Radiology Department and Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare sponsor several annual events, including a holiday dance in December, Radiology Week and graduation reception at the end of each academic year.

Wheaton was founded on the principles of charitable giving and returning to the community. The residency program provides multiple opportunities to interact with surrounding neighborhoods through events such as food and toy drives. We typically sponsor a family in need during the holiday season as well.
