All Saints Pediatric Respite Care
Finding the right child care is challenging for any parent, but when your child has special needs, it can be even more difficult. Sometimes you need to travel out of town on business, you may become sick yourself, or just need some personal time.
All Saints offers Pediatric Respite Care for parents and caregivers who need short-term care for their medically fragile child. Children (through age 17) who are chronically ill, developmentally disabled, dependent on medical equipment, or need special medical treatments can benefit from our compassionate and skilled care.
Children who are eligible to use our respite care services include those who are:
- Chronically ill
- Developmentally disabled
- Dependent on much equipment or technology
- Require many skilled treatments
The special times when you might consider using our services include:
- Personal time
- Illness or injury of the regular care provider
- Business outside of the city
Pediatric Respite Care is available:
- 24 hours a day. You may reserve our services for 72 hours at a time.
- The pediatric department is located on the third floor of the St. Luke’s
- Health Pavilion on the Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare–All Saints
- Spring Street Campus.
Using Pediatric Respite Care
- Pre-registration is required. All families using Pediatric Respite Care must pre-register. The following information is required when registering for Pediatric Respite Care:
- Completion of necessary information/consent forms, including an authorization for care such as administration of medications and emergency treatment.
- Completion of the immunization record.
- A care plan.
- Names and telephone numbers of emergency contacts.
- Names of other persons authorized to pick the child up.
- $5.00 registration fee per child.
- Fees:
- Community families: $9 per hour
- All Saints associates: $7 per hour
All fees are per child. Additional charges may include a $5 late fee if you are more than 30 minutes later than the time agreed upon to pick up your child.

- Once your child is pre-registered, you are able to use Pediatric Respite Care as you need it.
- Parents should notify Pediatric Respite Care 48 hours prior to using this service. Space is based on availability.
- When you bring your child to Pediatric Respite Care, please be sure to bring all necessary supplies such as clothing, toileting accessories, medical supplies and equipment, medications, and formula, if applicable. Parents may bring in food from home. Meal trays are available for $3.00.
- When you return to get your child, the staff will give you a report of your child’s stay
