- Vagal Nerve Stimulator – A new procedure in the treatment of seizures, this device is implanted in the chest. Lead wires are wrapped around the vagus nerve and programmed to provide short bursts of electrical stimulation to the nerve. The stimulation appears to scramble the signals that start a seizure and in some individuals has successfully decreased or eliminated the number and/or severity of seizures.
