Who Needs Lifeline?
- Patients age 65 and older who are being discharged from the hospital following acute illness.
- Patients who are discharged from a skilled nursing facility.
- Seniors who live alone.
- Individuals who have no one to help them up if they fall at home, even on a temporary basis.
- Anyone who is anxious and needs the assurance of being connected.
If you can't answer your phone, Lifeline sends help at once, with an average response time of 30 seconds. Whether it is a neighbor, family member or ambulance, you will get the help you need right away - 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Lifeline is a lightweight, waterproof personal help button designed to work in the home and immediate surroundings. It has the capability to respond in 150 languages and service can be activated before the patient is discharged. The button can send a signal 600 feet from the unit. For some subscribers, this means that they can continue to enjoy their yards and gardens.
Lifeline will continue to work up to 10 hours if you should lose electrical power to your home. Once the power is restored, the back-up battery in the Lifeline Unit will recharge itself. If you lose phone service you will be without the Lifeline Service until the telephone service is restored.
Lifeline is offered by Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare at The Wisconsin Heart Hospital, as well as our All Saints, Elmbrook Memorial, St. Francis, St. Joseph and Franklin locations. The basic unit is rented for $37 a month and a cordless phone unit is $45. Wheaton Franciscan VIP members are eligible for a one-time waiver of the $40 Lifeline installation fee. The new autoAlert button senses a fall to the ground and will automatically send a help signal, even if you can't. Available for an additional monthly fee of $12.
What a subscriber says:
"I can't begin to "THANK YOU" enough for assisting me in obtaining the life support program for my mother. Yesterday (the day after her release from Elmbrook) was a very hectic day for her. We were visited by her physical therapist for three hours, the medical equipment people for an hour, and your WONDERFUL representative, Pam.
Mother was rather stressed by the afternoon and Pam fully could see that and made her feel at ease. Pam explained everything, made the necklace into a bracelet for her, demonstrated the systems functions and made SURE Mother knew exactly how it worked. Pam was so caring and thorough, she made me want to cry to think all of you cared for her in the same manner I care. This system makes me feel secure as well, as I know your people will call me if Mom needs me, as I work from 7:00am to 5:30pm every day.
I am impressed with the whole package from my first contact with you to the end of our visit with Pam. The service is totally impressive as are you and your staff and I can't thank you enough."
