Our Pediatric Hospitalists are Expertly Trained to Care for Child

When your child is a patient on our warm and welcoming Pediatric Unit, our hospitalists will be there, around the clock, to handle their needs.

Hospitalists are doctors who have chosen to specialize in providing care in the hospital setting and team members are on staff 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to meet the needs of inpatients. Pediatric hospitalists work specifically with pediatric inpatients, with specific doctors assigned to each child. All Saints partners with Advocate Medical Group of Chicago to provide pediatric hospitalists. Founded in 1980, Advocate Medical Group consists of a group of pediatricians and subspecialists and is one of the leading medical group practices in Chicago.

Our pediatric hospitalists are readily available if you or a family member wants to talk with your child’s doctor. Because hospitalists are on site, they can review tests quickly and handle discharge efficiently. Our hospitalists also provide emergency department consultations, so if you bring your child to the emergency department, a pediatric hospitalist will participate in the decision about whether or not to hospitalize him or her.

While the hospitalist provides day-to-day care for your child, your primary care doctor is always kept informed through personal and electronic media. If your primary care doctor is a Wheaton Franciscan Medical Group physician, he or she has ready access to your child’s electronic medical record, too. Decisions are made as partners, but the hospitalist orders lab tests, reviews test results and handles other necessary care during hospitalization.

After discharge from the hospital, you will continue to see your child’s primary care doctor for all follow-up care.
