School of Radiologic Technology

Program Goals

The Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare-All Saints School of Radiologic Technology is committed to providing an education for the student radiographer keeping the following goals in mind:

1. The student will acquire the necessary skills to perform as an entry level Radiologic Technologist.

Student learning outcomes:
    a. The student will be able to set appropriate technical factors. 
    b. The student will properly position patients.
    c. The student will adhere to standard radiation protection methods

2. The student will be able to communicate effectively.

Student learning outcomes:
    a. The student will develop proper usage of medical terminology.
    b. The student will be able to communicate effectively in written form. 
    c. The student will demonstrate effective oral communication skills.

3. The student will exhibit critical thinking skills in a clinical environment.

Student learning outcomes:
    a. The student will be able to make modifications to accommodate adverse patients.
    b. The student will be able to analyze images.
    c. The student will be able to respond to a variety of situations.

4. The student will demonstrate professional behavior and develop habits that promote life-long learning.

Student learning outcomes:
    a. The student will maintain professionalism in the clinical setting.
    b. The student will summarize education educational experiences. 
    c. The student will advocate for the profession 

5. The faculty will monitor the effectiveness of the program.

Student learning outcomes:
    a. The student will pass the ARRT registry on the first attempt..
    b. Registry results will exceed the national average   
    c. The students will complete the radiography program 
    d. Of those seeking employment, the graduate student will be employed in the field of radiologic technology within six months of graduation. 
    e. The graduate student will competently perform as an entry level radiographer.
    f.  The quality of this program will exceed the expectations of the graduate student.
