Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare Receives 2014 Healthiest Employer Award

Glendale, WI - Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare has again been named one of Milwaukee’s Healthiest Employers by The Milwaukee Business Journal.

Wheaton is being recognized for encouraging a culture of wellness where associates are empowered to take charge of their health and develop healthy lifestyle habits resulting in improved health, increased personal health management, increased productivity and quality of work, and reduced health-related costs. A Wellness Steering Committee, comprised of site-based Wellness Committee chairpersons, oversees the Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare System Associate Wellness Program.

Currently, over 80% of Wheaton Franciscan Medical Plan participants participate in the Humana Vitality® wellness program. All Wheaton associates also have the opportunity to participate in site-based wellness programs, including health fairs, walking programs, weight loss challenges, and lunch and learns. In conjunction with the medical plan, disease management programs are also available for plan members who have asthma, diabetes, depression, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease.

Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare is a Catholic, not-for-profit organization with more than 100 health and shelter organizations in Wisconsin, Iowa, Colorado, and Illinois. The System includes hospitals, medical group physicians, outpatient centers, long-term care, home health, hospice, and a housing ministry.

Hospitals in Southeast Wisconsin include All Saints; Wheaton Franciscan – Elmbrook Memorial, St. Joseph, and Midwest Spine and Orthopedic Hospital and Wisconsin Heart Hospital Campuses; St. Francis; Franklin Hospital; and Midwest Orthopedic Specialty Hospital. The region also includes Wheaton Franciscan Medical Group with more than 300 physicians in more than 50 locations, a network of outpatient centers, three transitional and extended care facilities, Home Health, and Hospice. Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare is also affiliated with United Hospital System in Kenosha. 

The System was started by the Wheaton Franciscan Sisters more than 130 years ago and was formally incorporated in 1983. Corporate services offices are located in Wheaton, Illinois and Glendale, Wisconsin.
