2013 Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare Annual Report Now Available

Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare’s 2013 Annual Report is now available for viewing online. The website includes complete financials along with a series of short videos of our work with patients and housing ministry residents. Information on how the organization is offering healing and hope in our communities is also included.

In fiscal year 2013, Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare provided nearly $176 million in charitable benefit to the community, including nearly $44 million in charity care. In Southeast Wisconsin, our community benefit totaled more than $141 million including nearly $38 million in charity care.

“We hope you will be inspired as you watch new videos highlighting our work with patients and housing ministry residents. As we all respond to the changing health care landscape, Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare is proud to partner with our patients, families, residents, physicians, and associates to make our communities stronger, healthier, and better,” said John D. Oliverio, President and Chief Executive Officer.

In addition to providing charity care and covering the shortfall from government-sponsored programs such as Medicaid, Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare in Southeast Wisconsin provided more than $80 million in care to the elderly that was not reimbursed by Medicare. The gap in Medicare reimbursement was not included in accordance with the Catholic Health Association Community Benefit Reporting Guidelines.
