Racine, Wis. - Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints physicians participated in the 8th Annual C3 Complex Cardiovascular Catheter Therapeutics Global Summit as a Live Case Transmission site. This international education symposium is taking place in Orlando, Florida, June 19-23, 2012.

Thomas M. Shimshak, MD, an interventional cardiologist and Medical Director of the Cardiovascular Institute – All Saints, and his colleague, cardiologist Louis Kostopoulos, MD, performed live vascular procedures from the cardiovascular laboratory at All Saints. The cases were broadcasted via satellite and shared in real-time to conference participants in Orlando, and was viewed by more than 1,000 physicians and industry sponsors.

“The live case format allows physicians in attendance to observe first – hand contemporary, non-surgical, interventional techniques for treating patients with complex cardiovascular conditions,” said Dr. Shimshak.  All Saints was one of six medical centers in the United States, in addition to hospitals in Germany, Peoples Republic of China, India, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Greece who are also scheduled to transmit live cases.

Dr. Shimshak is a national and international leader in the interventional cardiology community and serves on the faculty and as Course Co-Director for this international symposium.
