It's Official: St. Francis Receives Baby-Friendly Designation
St. Francis hospital is pleased to announce that it has been re-designated as a Baby-Friendly hospital.
The 2012 Baby-Friendly re-designation is a result of a rigorous process in which the hospital must demonstrate that it has put into place policies and procedures that promote successful breastfeeding practices.
To receive Baby-Friendly Designation hospitals must thoroughly evaluate their current practices and adopt policies and procedures that lead to improved health outcomes.
The process includes:
- registering with Baby-Friendly USA
- completing all of the requirements
- and ultimately demonstrating during an on-site assessment that the hospital has correctly integrated all of the “Ten Steps To Successful Breastfeeding” into its practice for healthy newborns
